I've collected Hawaiian dolls & unique gifts & treasures for a while now & wanted to share 3 places to get them.  The first link is my all time FAVORITE shop to visit.  It's called Banana Wind and is located in the Old Canary Mall on Maui. I can't explain what's inside very well, just take a peek. If you are on Maui, it's worth it to make a special visit to Banana Wind. You'll find things from all around the world. The owner and her two children make trips to places most of us will never visit, but they bring back everything unique & special for us.

Losing a dog...

Losing a pet is painful. But I think never having a pet in our lives is even worse.  We love them and we grieve the loss of them with equal intensity. Here is my dog, Chester. I rescued him from the Humane Society.  He was an abused dog and it took a lot of time and patience to get him to accept kindness because his fear was bigger than his ability to trust, but we got there & he was loyal beyond words. I miss him.

Aloha is not just a beautiful word meaning Love or a greeting. It is a culture in Hawaii, it is a spirit. The Aloha spirit is something that is felt and not just heard.

Home from the California Beaches & Disneyland

I had a wonderful time in Disneyland, but who couldn't!  It's the Happiest Place on Earth & we celebrated our son's 11th birthday there.  Hubby continues to stay there for another week of work.  We visited Oceanside and Huntington Beaches.  I'm going to post photos, but have to say, that the dreary gray color that day at Oceanside was not flattering in photos.  I dislike that color alot & only last year finally incorporated it into my wardrobe.
You will see a big difference in the colors & how the weather, sand texture & color, and ocean currents all play a big role in how successful the photos turn out.  Huntington Beach was in the morning with a blue sky & sparkly water.
But nothing compares to the vibrant colorful sky in Hawaii.

We all experience grief ~ This describes it to me perfectly

Grief is a tidal wave that over takes you,
smashes down upon you with unimaginable force,

sweeps you up into its darkness,

where you tumble and crash against unidentifiable surfaces,

only to be thrown out on an unknown beach, bruised, reshaped...

Grief will make a new person out of you,

if it doesn't kill you in the making.
